911 In Memorial...
The multiple terrorist events of September 11 will never be forgotten.
It is our objective that the people killed, wounded and emotionally scarred will never be forgotten.
We are a company located in New York City directly affected by the tragedy, and all the ramifications.
We all seem to know someone who knew someone injured or fatally injured by the World Trade Center attacks.
We are around the corner from the city morgue and recovery effort.
Day in and out sirens puncture the air of our neighborhood and we know that another victim or personal remain
is being rushed for identification.
Troopers, FEMA employees, city police, hospital workers, and volunteers
await instructions as how to assist.
It is a gruesome and angering reminder of that day and the lives lost.
The good news is that the city is unified, caring, supportive, and committed to getting through this crisis and move forward.
In the early days following this attack, many individuals who personally suffered a loss were moving from one support facility to another trying to find missing loved ones. Coping with the bureaucratic process was no easy task, and some looked for a way to express their frustration, and love by posting announcements of their lost relatives, friends, co-workers, fathers, sisters, mothers, and friends.
These first announcements were hastily posted on walls, cars, street signs, bus-stops, and construction sites.
Within a few days these emotional cries for recognition of these innocent people had begun to center around one large blue construction wall surrounding Bellevue Hospital.
If you have been in NYC during the past couple of weeks you may have seen this Wall of Prayers.
The week before it was taken down, there were 1389 individuals personal notes.
This wall is now gone. Promises have been made to store and eventually use these personal notes in a bookform.
We believed a virtual memorial place for their lives to be remembered was immediately needed.
Carlick attempted on its own to contact corporations to take part in a web portal project of remembrance. Many individuals volunteered to participate, and we found that Kodak & AOL had such a project in place called Photoquilt. This web portal is close to the concept we had to honor the memories of our neighbors and friends who were most affected.
You may access this site now by clicking here.
We are pleased to promote this memorial site to you. We find it uplifting rather than sad. We hope you forward this address to others and participate in offering our feelings of sorrow and support to those who have been lost, and also to those who remain behind in pain. Your words and expressions of support will help in the healing and motivation to get things back to normal.
This site allows for interested individuals touched by this tragedy to email photographic images and an epitaph which will be posted on this site. We hope that all those thousands of people whose lives were taken in the World Trade Center, Pentagon, American, United Airlines, and related after events will be posted.
Let’s keep the memory of those killed or wounded alive through this thoughtful site.
